The two-day event will showcase both female and male talents of the Region and will also mark the first time games will be played under floodlights. Prominent miner Conrad St Romain and Ben Benjamin have come together to light up the Fitzburg Community Centre ground for the Tournament. Fans are eagerly looking forward to the fiesta.
A triple-header is set for the opening night tomorrow with a female encounter between Port Kaituma and Mabaruma at 17:30 h.
The game to follow will bring together Moruca and Matthew’s Ridge and in the night-cap Mabaruma confront Port Kaituma in the male catergory. The winners will then meet in the final on Sunday at 18:00 h.
The two-day tournament is being organised by ‘I’ Movement Promotions and Fitzgerald Adolphus. In an invited comment miner St. Romain stated, “The talent in the community and the lack of organised opportunities were always evident so when Isalam came with the proposal to light up the Park I had no hesitation.
This should provide an alternative avenue from the ills of society.
