His Excellency Amiram Majid of the State of Israel was yesterday installed as the new Ambassador to Guyana after presenting his Letters of Credence to President Bharrat Jagdeo at the Office of the President.
The ambassador, who is stationed in Israel, and would serve as his country’s non-resident Ambassador to Guyana, intends to concentrate on strengthening political dialogue between Israel and Guyana, opening up market opportunities in Guyana for Israeli businessmen, and share Israel’s international cooperation experience in the social sector and other fields.
He told the Government Information Agency (GINA) during an interview that “We (Israel) want to focus and identify topics that are top on your agenda and try to see if we can be able to do things together,” Ambassador Majid said.
During the period 2005 to 2009, Ambassador Majid served as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Director of Western Europe after serving as the Director of the South America Development.
The Ambassador holds a Master of Arts in political science from the University of Haifa and a Bachelor of Arts in General History and International Relations from the University of Jerusalem. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Hebrew.
In 1986 and 1990 Ambassador Majid won the Outstanding Honour Award of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel.
