Four charged with $6.6M pharmacy heist

POLICE have charged four persons in connection with the $6.6M heist at Ram’s Pharmacy last week Friday.
The quartet, Alicia Griffith, 32, of Lot 103 Regent Street and Devon Rodney, 34, of Lot 177 James and Campbell Streets, Albouystown, also in Georgetown; Martin
Emptage, 45, of Lot 151 Prince William Street, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara and 31-year-old Delroy Harris (no address given), all appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday.
They each pleaded not guilty to the February 12 break and enter and larceny of property belonging to Lakeram Odit.
Emptage told the Court he does not know the other defendants but claimed that he was a pedestrian when Police arrested him along with the other three.
Griffith said she was walking opposite the pharmacy when she observed it was open and she went to get help to close the door.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant was informed that people were removing his merchandise and Police apprehended them in the act.
However, Rodney alleged that it was the Police who took items from the business place.
The defendants were ordered to, individually, post $200,000 bail and the case was transferred to another Court for March 13
