Street dweller remanded on wounding charge

DEXTER Sobers (no address given) was yesterday remanded to prison, when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson on an unlawful wounding charge. Particulars of the offence, to which he pleaded guilty, said he unlawfully wounded Anwar Khan, to cause him actual bodily harm, on February 7.
The defendant told the magistrate he does not know his age and is living on the streets.
He claimed, because he refused to chip pumpkins for him, the virtual complainant threw a bucket on him and he retaliated by inflicting a neck wound.
But Khan denied giving the defendant any task and said they were involved in an argument before he was wounded on his throat.
Khan said, however, that the assailant is his friend and he is sorry for him.
The magistrate postponed the case pending a Police report on March 18.
