I am writing to draw public attention to the dangerous risk of attack by a pit bull in Crown Street, Queenstown. This dog is kept in a yard on Crown Street, between New Garden and Oronoque Streets. On Saturday last, the dog leapt over the chain link fence at the front of the property and attacked a small dog which was being walked by a lady. This dog is vicious and will attack with no prior warning. It attacks to kill.
There are many people who pass with small children, and indeed unaccompanied small and larger children who attend the local schools nearby, including St Gabriel’s and Queenstown Community High. As a resident adjacent to the lot where the dog is, I am very concerned about safety for all who are in the vicinity. This dog can and will jump the fence.
We have already seen several serious pit bull incidents where in one case a man had his scalp ripped from his head. All I can do is to point out to the general public the considerable risk of walking along Crown Street on the southern side between New Garden and Oronoque Streets.
Perhaps the relevant authorities can take up this matter and – is this asking too much – even resolve it?
