THE Guyana Chess Federation (GCF) will kick off its first tournament of the year this Saturday at Kei-shar’s Sports Club on Camp and Hadfield Streets, Georgetown.

The tournament will take the Swiss format and consist of seven rounds with a time limit of three hours per game. The first round starts on Saturday from 16:30 h with registration starting from 15:00 h.
Round two and three will be played on Sunday from 10:00 h. Rounds four and five are scheduled for next Tuesday and Thursday respectively starting at 17:00 h, while the remaining two rounds will conclude on Sunday from 10:00 h.
Registration fee for non-member senior is $800, while members will only pay $300. The fee for the junior will be $600 for non-member and $200 for members.
The Guyana Chess Federation is urging all members to update their membership fee for the 2010 calendar year. Membership fee for senior is $2 000 while the junior is $1 000.
The tournament is being sponsored exclusively by Trophy Stall of Bourda Market and City Mall and proprietor of Trophy Stall, Ramesh Sunich, has indicated that this will be an annual event.
