Husband charged with West Bank Demerara drowning murder

HER husband, Ramesh Munniram, 28, of Unity Street, La Grange, has been charged with the murder of Sunita August, whose body was fished out of a trench earlier this week.

The accused appeared before Magistrate Nyasha Hatmin at Vreed-en-Hoop Court, West Coast Demerara, Wednesday and was remanded to prison until February 22.

Muniram had been handed over to the Police by a relative about 16:30 h on Thursday, a day after his wife’s corpse was found in the vicinity of Nismes koker.

A post mortem examination, performed on the deceased, of Vauxhall, Canal Number One, also on West Bank Demerara, by Government pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh, established that death was from asphyxiation due to drowning.

The married couple had been separated because of domestic problems and the woman has left to mourn three children, aged three years, five years and eight years.
