THE Regional Administration in Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) has started preparations for Mashramani next month.

A release said the Regional Chairman, Mr. Alli Baksh, had a meeting with several councillors of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) on Tuesday, to discuss activities for the upcoming celebrations.

Baksh has called for all businesses in the Region to be involved in the celebration and several committees have already been formed to lead preparations for different activities.

The release said the Flag-Raising Ceremony will be held on the morning of February 23 (Republic Day) at 07:00 hrs on the lawns of Anna Regina Town Council Office while Mash Day revelry will begin at 09:00 hrs on the public road.

The float parade, from both ends of Essequibo Coast, will culminate on Anna Regina Centre Ground where a grand programme, including a cultural show will take place.

The Children’s Costume and Physical Display Competition is scheduled to kick off on January 25, also under the theme ‘Embracing our diversity and celebrating or heritage’.
