BREAKING NEWS….
– two others injured in brazen shootout by bandits at popular City bar
SHORTLY after 20:30 hrs (8:30 p.m.) last night, a group of gunmen descended on a popular bar located on David and Lamaha Streets, Georgetown, and shot and killed a waitress and injured two others.

Dead is waitress Kathy (only name given) of Industry, East Coast Demerara.

Also shot and injured are Australian national, Jason Montgomery, 38, who is in Guyana for a month on business to sell his product, “Citrus Clean”, a cleaning agent – which is bio-degradable and expected to hit the local market shortly.

He was at the popular Safraz Bar having drinks when four gunmen entered the business place and opened fire during a brazen robbery.

According to Mark Xavier, a business partner, who was at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) last night, Mr. Montgomery was at the bar (to pay his bill) when he was shot. Two patrons, including his friend (another customer) and a waitress were also shot during the attack.

Mr. Xavier told reporters that Mr. Montgomery was shot in the chest and doctors at GPH were preparing him for surgery late last night.

Mr. Montgomery was conscious and in a lot of pain.

He added that the bullet exited but hit his abdominal cavity, and as a result, he lost a lot of blood and was scheduled for a surgical operation.

The other patron was reportedly at a private hospital seeking medical attention.

In a separate shooting incident, Michelle Pyle, who was in a yard in a dwelling house in Lamaha Street, Newtown Kitty, was shot in the leg by unknown gunmen.
