Contaminated 100 count EZ Open Tylenol Arthritis Caplets recalled

The Government Analyst Food and Drug Department announced yesterday that all available lots of Tylenol Arthritis Pain Caplet 100 count bottles featuring a distinctive red EZ-Open CAP have been voluntarily recalled by Mc Neil Consumer Healthcare.

According to Director of the Department Ms. Marilyn Collins, The product was recalled after tests revealed contamination from Tribromoanisole, a chemical normally used to treat wooden pallets that transport and store packaging materials.

Consumer reports state that the drug had an unusual mouldy, musty and mildew like odor which is believed to have caused nausea, stomach pain, vomiting and diarrhea. The Department said that the health effects of Tribromoanisole have not been well studied and to date all reports appear to be temporary and non-serious.

The Department requested that all consumers, importers, wholesalers and retailers, doctors and pharmacies who have the product in their possession desist form using, selling or dispensing the product and to turn in the product to the Department.
