Missing $3.4M at Police Finance Department was locked in a canister in a locked cashier cage

Following a report on the disappearance of $3.4M from the Guyana Police Force (GPF) Finance Department, Police Headquarters, Eve Leary, Georgetown, on Tuesday morning, the Police that night issued a statement saying that the monies had been in a locked canister that was secured in a locked cashier cage. A press release said that the three ranks who have been arrested were responsible for the monies and the keys.

The money was discovered missing on Tuesday morning at about 09:00 h but there were no signs of any breakage to the office.

Three ranks are in custody pending investigations.
Police said most of the policemen and women who work in the Finance Department were all questioned following the disappearance of the money.
