Three women charged after fight at Household Plus

ACTING Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday heard how a transaction at Household Plus on Regent Street, Georgetown, resulted in violence involving three woman.

As a result, the trio appeared in Court on different charges.

It is alleged that, on December 28, 2009, Linda Bailey, 49, of Lot 247 South Road, Bourda and 52-year-old Gloria Massiah (no address given) unlawfully assaulted Denise Hamid so as to cause her actual bodily harm.

Bailey and Masiah pleaded not guilty and Hamid denied assaulting Bailey so as to cause her actual bodily harm.

Bailey said she had gone to the store, purchased some mats and, after paying for them, went to collect at the delivery desk that Hamid was behind.

The purchaser claimed Hamid refused to give her the merchandise and said she must wait until the payment is verified.

Bailey said, despite showing her the receipt, Hamid still did not hand over the items and, when she ventured to get them, Hamid attacked her.

Massiah said, after the fight broke out between Bailey and Hamid, she attempted to separate them but was also struck by Hamid and her brother.

Massiah said Hamid’s brother kicked her about her body and face and caused her dentures to fall out and she is now without, as she left them at the business place.

Attorney-at-law Mr. Rexford Jackson, for the woman Hamid, said Bailey and Massiah were behaving disorderly and Hamid’s brother suffered stab wounds to his chest and is currently hospitalised.

Bailey and Massiah were each put on $20,000 bail and the woman Hamid was released on self-bail, all until January 7.
