There they were joined by President Bharrat Jagdeo, who is a former Gibson Primary School student and, later a teacher, before moving into politics.
In a brief address to the children and several parents, the President lamented that he could not go to every community during the holiday season, but noted that the party at the school was a special one, given his previous association, and he was “extremely happy to be home”.
He encouraged the eager students to study diligently and told the parents to ensure that their children attend school, because obtaining an education is very important. He warned that Government will take serious steps against those who fail this task.
After the brief address, the President, along with his advisor, Odinga Lumumba, distributed food and refreshments, to those gathered. (GINA)
