All Georgetown affair..
THE finalists of the 20th edition of the annual Kashif and Shanghai football tournament will be decided tonight when the two semi-finals of the tournament are staged at the Providence National Stadium.
With an all Georgetown affair prevailing in both semi- finals, football fans and supporters from the city can expect an evening of entertaining football as all four teams will be seeking to win the coveted US$5000 first prize money along with the replica trophy and medals.
The feature match which is slated for a 20:00h start will see defending champions Pele tackling one time finalist BK International Western Tigers, while from 18:00h, two-time champions Sunburst Camptown faces one-time winner Alpha United.
U.S. based Guyanese Gregory `Jackie Chan’ Richardson will spearhead Pele’s attack which will be bolstered by Marvin Joseph along with midfielders Travis `Zorro’ Grant the play maker of the team and Konata Mannings.
Charles `Lilly’ Pollard will marshal the defence along with Dirk Archer, while Shemroy Arthur will perform duties between the uprights.
Devon Millington in tandem with Nedd Fraser will lead Tigers’ attack and they will be supported by loan player Shawn `Bubbly’ Beveney along with midfielder Ryan Thomas and defenders Dillon Fraser and Shermon David.
Dwight Peters, Quincy Madramootoo, Shawn Bishop and Howard Lowe will lead Alpha United’s attack against the likes of Camptown’s Nigel Codrington, Telson McKinnon, Orlando Gilgeous and Troy Prescod among others.
