Alpha United breeze into K&S semi-final

–To face Camptown tonight
FORMER champions Alpha United breezed into the semi-final of the 20th Annual Kashif and Shanghai Football Tournament with a 4-0 win against Fruta Conquerors at the GFC ground on Saturday night.

Dwight Peters sent the Georgetown Football Association’s Premier League champions into the lead in the 12th minute after an exchange of passes and finished clinically.

Alpha United’s captain and central defender Howard Lowe made the score line 2-0 on the stroke of half time, scoring off a rebound from a free kick.

With a comfortable 2-0 lead, the eventual winners continued to dominate the match, nullifying any chances of Fruta Conquerors hitting their target.

Former national midfielder Shawn Bishop who took to the field as a second hand substitute added his name to the referees score sheet with a 57th minute goal, while Edmonson Gomes inked his name one minute before the final whistle was blown.

Meanwhile, defending champions Pele and last year’s runners up Sunburst Camptown became the first two teams to advance to the semi final round with victories over GDF and Riddim Squad respectively.

The final is billed for the Providence National Stadium on Friday evening.
