The Police have lodged a motor vehicle with 23 plastic containers with dieseline, a 12 gauge shotgun with four cartridges, a pair of gloves and a camouflaged hat and poncho which were found in the vehicle.

At about 04:30h yesterday, policemen on a mobile patrol at Madewini, Soesdyke/Linden Highway, observed suspected fuel leaking from the trunk of motor car, PFF 1757, which was travelling in front of them, with three occupants.

The police followed the vehicle which suddenly stopped and one of the men exited the vehicle and opened fire at the police ranks with a hand gun. The ranks took cover and returned fire, but the men managed to escape.

A search of the abandoned car revealed plastic containers with dieseline, and the other items.
