The police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 21:00h Saturday at Parika, East Bank Demerara, during which two pump attendants at RK Service Station were attacked and robbed by two men armed with a handgun and a knife.
Police said the two male pump attendants were confronted by the two men who held them up and took away $50,000 in cash and two cell phones, after which they escaped on foot.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, the police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 21:30h on Saturday night at De Kendren, West Coast Demerara, during which housewife Veronica Rai and her two sons were attacked and robbed by two men armed with a handgun and a knife.
Veronica Rai was in a hammock outside of her home when the men entered the premises and held her up. They took her into the house and also held up her two sons, ordering them to lie on the floor.
The two men then ransacked the house and took away a quantity of jewellery, $50,000 in cash, a digital camera, a laptop computer, a DVD player and five cell phones, after which they escaped.
During the incident Veronica Rai was struck about her head and body by one of the men with the butt of the handgun. She was treated at the Leonora Cottage Hospital and sent home.
