Chronicle photographers among 66 Kuru Kuru college graduates

SIXTY-SIX students graduated from the Kuru Kuru Cooperative College last Saturday, at the institution’s 27th graduation exercise.

Ten of them were successful at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examination; four received Advanced Diplomas in Digital Photography; eight got Advanced Certificates in Digital Photography; two received Certificates in Digital Photography; two – Certificates in Intermediate Photography; eight – Certificates in Elementary Photography; two – Certificates in Video Editing; eight -Certificates in Small Business Management and 22, Certificates in Leadership Development Skills.

The College is registered with the Accreditation Council of Guyana and is pursuing collaborations with Washburn University, a renowned institution in the United States.

According to the College’s Administrator, Mrs. Myrtle Richards, that will enhance its entrepreneurial arm.

Our students will benefit from two things, exchange programmes with students from that university and get to study there after completing one year of one of our diploma courses,” she said.

She said, with CSEC, in 90 per cent of the subject areas, 100 per cent passes were obtained while the others saw dramatic improvements.

As for those wishing to enroll, Richards said the College calls for a commitment from them and, together, they will make a difference.

Addressing the graduates, she charged them to prove themselves ambassadors of the school and urged them to persevere.

Among the graduating group were photographers from the Guyana Chronicle: Adrian Narine (Advanced Diploma in Digital Photography) and Sonnel Nelson (Certificate in Digital Photography).
