Kaieteur News seeking to divert attention

HAVING made a huge blunder, the Kaieteur News is trying to divert attention from its misinformation to something that has no bearing on the issue. The newspaper recently tried to show us that Government is corrupt and has used its office to steal from tax payers by quoting a high cost for the Stanleytown pump, when in fact the amount was much less.

They claimed to have gotten the costing from the company that supplied the Stanleytown pump quoting an $11M cost. However, in the Friday edition of the newspaper, the contractor for the project provided information to show the cost of the project which included the pump, gear drive, drive shaft and coupling.

Somehow, people don’t seem to understand that the cost of the components is not usually the entire cost of the project which is quoted.

I found it funny to see the contractor’s response and another story by that newspaper published side by side on the same page. However, in trying to deviate from the issue, and perhaps divert attention from the fact that the newspaper did indeed present misinformation to the public, it has sought to do damage control by focusing on the supplier instead.

There is no company in the world that has not encountered problems at some time in their existence and even Kaieteur News cannot boast that it has never had a run in with the law since many persons have sued that newspaper.

What is the real issue here; the cost of the pump or the company’s reputation?
