Lewis optimistic about impending fight with Frank

Andrew ‘Sixhead’ Lewis does a bit of shadow boxing during his workout yesterday.

DESPITE his fall from grace Andrew ‘Sixhead’ Lewis said that he maintains strong confidence in himself and this was the attitude he exuded during his training session on Monday at his gym in Albouystown.

Lewis is undergoing a rigorous training programme in preparation for his fight with Raul Frank, which according to organiser Odinga Lumumba is scheduled for early October.

Lewis said that although he is in the first phase of his training camp he is feeling very good in terms of fitness which is exactly what he had hoped for. According to the former WBA welterweight champion he is trying to get himself back together.

“Every one has his ups and downs” the pugilist related, but he said that his focus is at its peak and he is gearing that focus towards defending his honour.

Lewis believes this will be a comeback fight of sorts as the winner will move on to tackle Howard ‘Battersea Bomber’ Eastman for his middleweight title.

His confidence and the fact that he is healthy – not nursing any injuries – are his pieces-de-resistance but ‘Sixhead’ Lewis is still not taking anything for granted. Lewis said he gives everyone due respect and does not underestimate any of his opponents. He said that he was familiar with Frank and considers him a worthy adversary.

“I know Raul and over the years he has stood toe to toe with some tough fighters; he’s been around since the eighties,” he recalled.
