Several historical and current commonalities between French Guiana and Guyana were discussed during the meeting with the Prime Minister, including the newly constructed Takutu River Bridge.
Berthelot made it known that a similar infrastructure is already in existence between French Guiana and Brazil. She also highlighted how effective trade and travel would be if bridges were built to link Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana.

As a specialist in the environment, Ms Berthelot expressed her interest in learning more about Guyana’s Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) which she became aware of a few months ago.

Berthelot believes that such a topic warrants collaboration between Guyana and French Guiana, noting that the value and preservation of forests are very important.
She continued paying courtesy calls yesterday on other government officials.
