Four Guyanese among 22 facing immigration charges

FOUR Guyanese men were among 22 people who were arrested when Police raided a popular Chaguanas hotel in Trinidad on Sunday.

The Guyanese nationals, all men, along with 18 women aged 18 to 28, from Santo Domingo, Venezuela and Colombia were arrested on a range of offences, including illegal entry, tampering with legal documents, breach of deportation orders, and over-staying their time.

Investigators said between 22:00 h and 02:00 h (10 pm and 2 am), officers from the Port-of-Spain Task Force, led by Supt Hackett, and including Sgts Gary Edwards and Mervyn Edwards, Cpl Adjodha, Cpl Lucian and Immigration Officer Rudy Maharaj, went to the hotel at Chase Village, Chaguanas.

They found several of the foreigners in possession of passports and fraudulent stamps.(Trinidad Guardian)
