Bakewell commits to Kashif and Shanghai cycling meet

BAKEWELL, the latest of a series of sponsors, has committed its supports to the Kashif and Shanghai organisation in light of its cycling meet which the entity is hosting in conjunction with the Roraima Riders Club.

Bakewell made a presentation of an undisclosed sum to Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major of Kashif and Shanghai yesterday at its factory at Triumph on the East Coast of Demerara.

Major said that he was not surprised when the baked goods supplier agreed to aid in the venture. Bakewell is always ready and willing to give support to the public and by extension Kashif and Shanghai.

He also believes that the prestige and fame that his organisation has developed over the years in the sporting arena plays a major role in acquiring sponsorship.

Major was elated to disclose the fact that Linden, the venue for the meet, will be amply represented come race day as two overseas-based Guyanese cyclists, Jolyn Joseph and Andrew Reece, will be returning to defend the mining town’s honour.

Light was also shed on the walk race for individuals, 55 years and older, and the two cycling races for female participants.

The event is scheduled for this weekend, Sunday August 9, in the mining town.
