THE Thomas Lands-based Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) will be a hive of activity this Saturday, when national middle order batsman Steven Jacobs and his club mate Delvon McEwan, in collaboration with the MSC, present a grand one-day Super Sixes cricket festival.
The event, which has an attractive first prize of $125 000 and a trophy, along with a second prize of $65 000 and a trophy, will feature players the calibre of West Indies limited overs batsman Leon Johnson, Christopher Barnwell, Darwin Christian, Andrew Lyght Jr, Deon Ferrier, Jacobs and McEwan just to name a few on display.
Former national Under-19 off-spinner Clive Andries, along with Troy Lewis, will be donning his whites for this encounter when they appear for a Combined Six team, who will be competing against Georgetown Cricket Club, Demerara Cricket Club, Transport Cricket Club, Cappo’s XI and host club MSC.
According to Jacobs, proceeds from this venture, which also has lucrative prizes at stake for the best batsman and bowler as well as the man-of-the-match in the final, will be used towards the development of the club while the possibility of making it an annual affair rests on the horizons.
The action, which is being sponsored by Ansa McAl Trading, with added sponsorship from Toucan Industries, Bryden and Fernandes, Lifetime Real Estate, Payless Variety Store, Scotts Jewellery, Goodwood Racing Services, Raphael’s Real Estate, Horizon Transportation Equipment and Rental, Doodnauth’s Jewellery and Padraks Poultry among others, is expected to get under way at 09:00 h.
