Ministry staffers cleaning up at burnt-out offices

Ministry of Health staff has been continuing the clean-up effort following Friday’s fire so that services can continue uninterrupted, from today, and all the office spaces will be ready by the end of the week.

So said Minister of Health, Dr Leslie Ramsammy, when he and media personnel made a walk through the remnants of what was once the ministry’s main building in a complex of five.

The fire, which by all indications was deliberately set, broke out shortly after 3:00 hrs Friday in the main building housing the Ministry’s headquarters, resulting in millions of dollars in losses.

The minister pointed out that now that an inventory has been taken, the loss is within the $1.2B to $1.5B range.
