SHARON Narine, 34, of Lot 67 Barr Street, Albouystown, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday, charged with unlawful confinement and simple larceny.
Facing a joint charge, with Dexter Lynch who was absent, particulars of their indictable offence said, between July 13 and 14, at Prashad Nagar, they wrongfully confined Andel Lynch.
Narine, however, pleaded not guilty to having, on July 13, at Sheriff Street, also in Georgetown, stolen a gold band, a gold chain and cash, all to the total value of $1,040,0000, belonging to Andel Lynch.
Police Inspector Denise Griffith, prosecuting, could not account for the absence of the virtual complainant because he was warned to be in Court and Dexter Lynch was released on station bail.
Attorney-at-law Mr. Vic Puran, for Narine, said Andel Lynch is the brother of her mother’s ex-paramour.
The lawyer said Dexter Lynch once lived in the same house with Narine when they were children and he went to her home for help to escape being kidnapped.
Puran said he could not understand how things turned against Narine, causing her to be charged.
Narine was ordered to post $200,000 bail on the unlawful confinement charge and $100,000 in the simple larceny case, until September 15.
