David Leander, called ‘Biscuit’, one of the accused in the murder of former Minister of Agriculture, Satyadeow Sawh, is a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) after he collapsed in prison.
Leander, who is seriously ill, is under guard at the institution since he was rushed there about 07:30 h on Thursday.
The prisoner, 29, of Buxton, East Coast Demerara, is being treated for vomiting and is semi-conscious.
Leander was expected to appear at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court yesterday for the Preliminary Inquiry.
Reports from the prison said that Leander had been unwell for some time now and this is his second admission at GPH.
The prisoner, along with the now dead Jermaine “Skinny” Charles, has been charged with the murder of Sawh, his brother Rajpat Sawh, his sister Pulmattie Persaud, and security guard Curtis Robertson on April 22, 2006, at the Minister’s La Bonne Intention, East Coast Demerara home.
