Guinness/GFA/MCYS/NSC Inter-Club/Block Futsal tournament
… Knock-out action begins tonight
ALPHA `The Hammer’ United drubbed Buxton Back 8-0 while BK International Western Tigers clawed North Grove 6-0 when action in the Guinness/Georgetown Football Association/Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport/National Sports Commission’s Inter-Club/Block Futsal tournament continued on Wednesday evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
The competition will continue this evening at the same venue with the commencement of the knock-out stage.
On Wednesday evening, Fabio DaSilva and Ronson Williams both registered hat-tricks for Alpha United while Leon Grumble and Gordon Henry scored one goal each.
Grumble opened the floodgates with a 2nd-minute goal and 14 minutes later Williams got the first of his three goals then followed up with another two in the 17th and 18th minutes.
In the 20th minute, DaSilva opened his account and within two minutes he recorded the other two (21st and 23rd).
In the 23rd minute also, Henry slotted home his goal.
In the Tigers versus North Grove fixture, Kevin Gordon netted a double in the 6th and 8th minutes while Devon Millington supported with a double of his own in the 23rd and 29th minutes.
There was one goal each from Shermon David (14th) and Dwayne Daniels (24th).
In other results from the night’s action, South Soesdyke, led by a double strike from Dellon Johnson in the fourth and 24th minutes, beat Independence Boulevard by a 3-1 margin. Fizal Mohammed scored South Soesdyke’s other goal in the 23rd minute.
For Independence Boulevard, D. John scored the lone goal in the 15th minute.
Victoria Kings and Houston Stars played to a 0-0 draw, while Uprising defeated Ann’s Grove by a 4-1 margin.
O’Riley Small (13th and 14th), Omali Nassy (19th) and Daniel Favourite scored for the winners while Marlon Adams (20th) pulled one back for Ann’s Grove.
Santos edged Plaisance 3-2 through goals from Quacy Price (11th), Dwayne Ali (17th) and Renault Fraser (17th).
Scoring for Plaisance were John Heliger (23rd) and Shawn Griffith (20th).
Pele brushed aside Riddim Squad, winning by a 5-1 margin.
For Pele, Troy Kellman netted a treble in the first, fifth and 12th minutes, while Calvin Shepherd and Quincy Hemerding registered one each in the 24th and 22nd minutes respectively.
For Riddim Squad, Dorville Stewart scored the team’s lone goal in the ninth minute.
For tonight’s knock-out round, Camp Street Taxi will face Clippers Barber Shop in the opening game while Flamingo will meet Soesdyke in game two.
Eagles take on Victoria in a ladies’ game and Camptown’s male team face BV.
Customs will do battle with Upper Level Barber Shop, Pele meet Victoria and GDF will face Alpha United in the feature game.
