`The End Game’
FORMER world-rater Raul Frank has agreed to fight former World Boxing Association welterweight champion, Andrew `Sixhead’ Lewis, on a McNeal Enterprise card labelled `The End Game’ later this year.
According to fight promoter and Presidential Adviser, Odinga Lumumba, Frank who arrived in Guyana recently for a short vacation signed the contract to fight Lewis later in the year.
Lumumba pointed out that the fight will come off either September 26 or October 3. He said from his understanding, another promoter has booked September to stage another card but should that promoter not choose September 26, then Frank and Lewis will fight a qualification bout with the winner meeting national middleweight champion Howard Eastman on Boxing Day in a title fight.
Lumumba said for years he and other local promoters have been trying to get Frank and Lewis together in the ring and it has finally materialised.
Lumumba said he had promised Guyana Boxing Board of Control president, Peter Abdool, to get the two boxers to meet in the ring and he is pleased that he has delivered on that promise.
Abdool said he is very pleased to have the fight come off and promises that it would be a brilliant display of boxing.
Frank said he is expecting a good fight and would be well prepared.
Asked when he knew of the fight, he said it was only yesterday when he was approached by Lumumba and he readily signed the contract.
Frank’s co-manager Joshua Frank, who is also his son, thanked Lumumba for giving his father the opportunity to fight Lewis and warned that Lewis would have to walk with six more heads in order to get some sort of a chance of beating his (Joshua) father. “I think Frank will train for this fight more than he has trained for any other fight.”
Raul Frank said he is ready to take what Lewis has to offer and he hopes that Lewis is ready and willing to take what he (Frank) has to offer.
