Former Region Two REO, Deonarine dead

FORMER Regional Executive Officer (REO) of Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), Mr. Deonarine has died at his Richmond Housing Scheme home, after becoming ill on the night of Monday last.

He had served the Regional Administration for five years, also as Deputy Regional Executive Officer (Development) before assuming the REO post.

A release from the Regional Administration said Deonarine was Deputy REO from October 1, 2002 and REO from February 7, 2005.

He began his working life as a teacher at Hampton Court Primary School in 1970 and taught at several other schools, including Providence Primary, on East Bank Demerara.

Deonarine became a qualified master in 1978 at Eighth of May Community High School and retired as Headmaster of Charity Secondary School, also on Essequibo Coast.

At the time of his death, he was President of the Essequibo Chapter of Justices of the Peace Association and Chairman of the Police ‘G’ Division Management Committee.

He was well-known and performed with distinction as a JP and Commissioner of Oaths to Affidavits. (Rajendra Prabhulall)
