Mr. GERHARD Ramsaroop completely fails to grasp the point in his letter titled “Defensive posturing and a lack of respect for the common sense of Guyanese” on July 3, 2009 in the Stabroek News.

Mr. Ramsaroop only refers to one letter written by Mr. Tarron Khemraj in the KN July 1, 2009. If Mr. Ramsaroop has been following Khemraj’s previous letters then he would have realized the level of ignorance they portray. I want to make it clear that I did not refer to Kas being unpatriotic but rather as a nitpicker trying to fame his name via some ignorant and illogical thinking.

Tarron Khemraj is an alleged economist and is still yet to prove himself since he is very opinionated and seems to think that his theories are the ultimate truth and written in stone. Khemraj thinking is clearly naïve and petty, and fails to address economic issues holistically. Mr. Ramsaroop should note that there are many existing qualified people around the world but only few are credible and Tarron Khemraj does not fall within the credible category.

Khemraj is the type that sits at the desk, box a few pages of some text books and try relentlessly to fabricate some opinionated story, with hopes to restore his failed academic career.

If Tarron Khemraj was truly concerned about the welfare of Guyana, then he would return and battle the war with us Guyanese with our objective to further fortify and develop Guyana. Instead, he sits on his gluteous maximus overseas ridiculing Guyana and its people hoping to stir up conflict among our people and hurt our poor nation.

Khemraj clearly lacks the common sense to properly apply all the economic theories he has read to realities of the developing world. It is a waste of time to debate with Khemraj since he is easy to predict and his points fail to make any substantial suggestion worth debating.

For what its worth, I reiterate that the International Monetary Fund’s report on Guyana’s sound macroeconomic environment is a start for transformation of the economy; however, because of Khemraj’s strong opinionated personality and ignorant thinking, he deems this as wrong. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has done some wonders for parts of the developing world, and this must mean something for the poor who live there: again, his focus on IMF’s concern for achieving stability indicates Mr. Khemraj’s failure to grasp the bigger picture of development in the developing world; from stability, a poor country can move to other things; and let us not forget, that as people squabble over the ‘conditionality’ control of the IMF over poor nations, it is the same funds that significantly contribute in the interim to the provision of human and social services for the poor.

Khemraj has truly found a fish that fell for the plastic bait. I hope Mr. Ramsaroop finds another tutor soon before Tarron Khemraj brainwashes him and discredits his credibility. By the way, Mr. Ramsaroop, how is the AFC doing these days?
