Police confirm three detained in Guyhoc sex probe

COMMANDER of Police ‘A’ Division, Assistant Commissioner Leroy Brummel yesterday commented on reports of a sex ring operating out of a Guyhoc Park house in Georgetown.

Following publication in another section of the press, he told the Guyana Chronicle he is not aware of any such gang but confirmed that teenage students of city schools, aged 14 and 15, respectively, are in Police custody.

Brummel said the girls’ parents learnt of their activities when one of them ‘burst the bubble’ and Police were alerted and made the arrests, also of a male said to be 19 years old.

“Statements were taken by the Police and the girls were each sent for medical examinations and the results are being awaited before charges are instituted,” he offered.

Brummel said the male involved is also being held by Police and will, obviously, be charged with carnal knowledge.

The Commander said the matter is being investigated but he is aware that the girls were indeed sexually active with the young man in detention.

Previously, it was reported that several teenage girls, often in their school uniforms, frequent a house in Guyhoc Park, where they are engaged in sexual activities with at least two young men who smoke marijuana. (Michel Outridge
