Prisoner Vishal Ramlall remains in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital, after he was involved in an accident on Annandale Public Road, Essequibo Coast, on Friday last.
Reports reaching the Guyana Chronicle said the accident occurred when Ramlall, along with several other prisoners, was being taken in a 4X4 to the Supenaam Ferry Stelling by ranks from G-Division Police, with an escort from the Joint Services.
The driver in the vehicle behind the prisoners lost control and slammed into the 4X4, causing it to run into the police vehicle that was leading the escort. The 4X4 then plunged into a trench, throwing the prisoners and police ranks into the water.
They were rushed to the Suddie Hospital for medical attention, and Ramlall, suffering from serious head injuries, was transferred to the Georgetown Hospital the following day.
