Mayor’s Protocol Officer dies

The Mayor and City Council and residents of Tucville were late yesterday plunged into mourning at the sudden death of Mayor Hamilton Green’s Protocol Officer, Sergeant Oswald Joseph, 53.

He died of a suspected heart attack around 17:00 hrs at his home at 26 Tucville Terrace, Greater Georgetown.

Joseph’s step-daughter, Abigail Brower, 17, related to the Guyana Chronicle that around 17:15 hrs. she was preparing for a job interview and was looking around the house for him, since he had her certificates for safe keeping.

The teen said she called out for him twice, but got no response, so she went into her mother’s room where the documents were kept.

She called again for him, received no response and checked the wash room where she found his body lying on the floor.

Weeping uncontrollably, his wife Eartha recalled that her husband had a heart condition and said she is sure he had suffered a heart attack.

Joseph, who was employed as a musician with the Guyana Defence Force band before joining the staff of the M&CC, is survived by his wife, six children and foster children.
