AT A simple but meaningful ceremony on June 4, 2009, Gafsons Industries Limited donated nine water tanks and fittings to the University of Guyana to help to alleviate the water situation being experienced at the institution’s Turkeyen Campus.
The donation was presented by Mr. Mark Harris, the company Group Store Manager, to the university’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Tota Mangar.
Also present at the ceremony were other Gafsons officials, including Messrs Imtiaz Gafoor and Nazir Haniff, while among those from the university were Dr Marlene Cox, Director of the Office of Resource Mobilisation & Planning, and staff of the Maintenance Division.
In his presentation, Mr. Harris stressed that the donation, coming at the time when the company, like other businesses locally and internationally, was experiencing financial challenges was a demonstration of its corporate responsiveness and commitment to the University. He also stressed that the company was willing to continue to assist the institution.
