THE Ministry of Amerindian Affairs has donated a boat and a 40 horse power (hp) outboard engine to the Chinese Landing community along Barama River, North West District, in Region One (Barima/Waini).
Chairman of Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), Mr. Alli Baksh, who handed over the gifts, said they will benefit 1,500 people.
Chinese Landing is located 300 miles from Charity on Essequibo Coast and Government has, over years, invested much to provide schoolchildren and teachers in the remote location with the environment conducive to learning.
The community, where residents are mostly involved in gold and diamond mining, has also been provided with free health care, including medicines. (Rajendra Prabhulall)
