ONE hundred and forty-five cases are listed for hearing at the June Criminal sessions of the Demerara Assizes which opened today with the traditional ceremonial parade. Those presiding at the sessions are Justice William Ramlal and Justice James Bovell-Drakes. This morning one of the judges will inspect a Guard of Honour drawn from 60 ranks of the Tactical Services Unit and will also take the salute during a march-past. Of the 145 cases listed, 34 are for murder, 22 for manslaughter, 30 for rape, 14 for causing death by dangerous driving , four for narcotics and one for incest.
