WHILE perusing the daily newspaper I noticed that Guyana received $6M to help suicide prevention; which will aid in reducing the number of suicide cases in the country.

Mr. Editor I think it is for a great cause since it will develop the capacity to understand suicide and suicidal behaviours in Guyana.

I noticed while attending the IAC Mela at the National Park on May 10 that the President also stated the importance of suicide prevention in Guyana; he said that it has become very much prevalent since many didn’t do it out of economic circumstances nor hardships but family problems and other difficulties. This is one area that we all need to help in; help our neighbours; friends; and families.
