Ida sure did fool them all

I guess it didn’t take long for the tag-team duo of de Freitas and Gossai to go into full swing against me. Birds of the same feathers do flock together. I can understand why Mr. de Freitas came out flapping the way he did—he was the one who endorsed ‘Ida’.

Mr. de Freitas said I did not name any of the critics or gave their credentials when I said that the “missing link was denounced by fellow paleontologist scientists as most likely to be an ancestor of lemurs and bush babies.” Seeing that he is dying to know, I will be more than happy to oblige.

The “London Times” published this article on May 28th. My letter was simply a summary of that article. If one should go online to “Times Online”, do a search for ‘Ida”, and then click on “John Hurum paid $750,000”, you can read the story in its entirety. Maybe Mr. de Freitas would like to pick at the “London Times”.

Mr. de Freitas then seemed to take pride in a statement about someone “schooling me”. It seems like some guys have their heads buried in the same textbook—“Mirror, mirror on the wall, Ida sure did fool them all”. It is fascinating and pathetic that people would crave the connection to a squirrel-like skeleton by saying, “Look at her eyes, look at her nails —can’t you see the resemblance?”

I must admit though that the whole Ida nonsense has made me more empathetic toward the squirrels in my backyard—I’m feeding them more. However, it has ruffled the feathers of Polly my parrot. I am almost certain I heard Polly say the other day, “Stop that, you bird brain!”
