I am very perturbed with GT&T level of competence at Anna Regina and Region 2 on the whole. Some time in last month and at the moment the telephone service situation became unbearable, I cannot make local and receive international calls although this matter was reported to the manager, and one must imagine how atrocious the service had become.
The manager, top functionaries and officials had told the disgruntled customers time and time again and promised that they would soon endeavour to rectify the situation,
But, to date nothing has been done. The services are worse! I can prove that GT&T is still miles behind the rest in terms of providing quality service to its customers. Moreso, GT&T has the monopoly, so it means that the standard must be very high. And ‘quality and satisfaction count’. I have always been concerned especially about many of the foreign divestment and privatisation as a former trade unionist. Lest it be misunderstood let me say clearly that I am not against divestment in principle but I believe that the country and its people should benefit from proper deals. The culture of private profiteering has destroyed Guyana and continues to exterminate its residual morality. These companies are involved in the same get-richer a quick scheme.
