RAOUL Singh and Yollanda Narine, defendants in a $30M libel action filed by Phelefhelia Wilson, yesterday submitted an affidavit in answer. Before then, Justice William Ramlal had granted an injunction in favour of Wilson, who is claiming damages for December 28, 2008 and February 15 Facebook publications on the Internet. The plaintiff, represented by Mr. Nigel Hughes also claimed for defamation of character in published false, lewd and vulgar images. The judge restrained the defendants from further defaming or impersonating the plaintiff on the Internet or otherwise, until the hearing and determination of the case. In their reply, the defendants, through Mr. Maxwell Mc Kay and Mrs. Abiola Wong-Innis, denied each and every allegation of fact and contentions of law made by the plaintiff. They alleged that the allegations against them were maliciously fabricated with the sole, predominant purpose of extracting the remedies sought and the cause of action is frivolous, vexatious and an abuse of the Court process.
