PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) – A galaxy of stars will be on show and US$100 000 up for grabs when the West Indies Players Association (WIPA) Twenty20 Club Champions League bowls off today.
Several current and former West Indies players, along with a host of regional cricketers will line up in the tournament which will be played at Guaracara Park.
In the opening match of the series, Felicity Invaders of Central Trinidad will come up against Maple of Barbados at 15:30 h while in the feature game, defending champions PowerGen Sports will battle Melbourne Cricket Club of Jamaica.
Former Guyana all-rounder Lennox Cush and ex-Guyana and West Indies youth batsman Richard Ramdeen will turn out for Invaders while Barbados and West Indies pacer Kemar Roach will headline the Maple team.
For PowerGen, West Indies left-arm spinner Dave Mohammed, former Guyana and West Indies right-arm leg-spinner Mahendrea Nagamootoo and T&T and West Indies fast bowler Ravi Rampaul will all do battle.
Melbourne, which is being coached by West Indies fast bowling legend Courtney Walsh, includes West Indies left-arm spinner Nikita Miller and national batsman Donavon Pagon.
The tournament will run from May 8 to 17 with two matches each evening at the South Trinidad venue.
