TWO men, charged with assault causing actual bodily harm, were remanded to prison by Magistrate Chandra Sohan when they appeared at Albion Court, Corentyne, Berbice, on Monday.

Dasrath Sudhan, 29, a businessman of Lot 5 ‘A’ 18 Belvedere and Tameshwar Khemraj, 22, a barber of Lot 178 Nigg Settlement, both Corentyne addresses, are alleged to have assaulted Sandeep Persaud, a minor, on April 14.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Faizal Karimbaksh, prosecuting, said the defendants accosted the lad and, after accusing him of stealing a gold ring, brutalised him.

The orphan reported the incident to his aunt, with whom he lives and she informed Police, the Prosecutor said, before the case was put off to May 6.
