‘Tiger Bay’ man latest accused National Park ‘trunker’

FITZROY Holligan, 34, of Lot 28 Holmes Street, South Cummingsburg (Tiger Bay) in Georgetown, is the latest accused trunker (thief who steals from unattended motor vehicles) in the National Park.

Before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle on Wednesday he faced charges of simple larceny and damage to property and pleaded not guilty.

Particulars of the offences said, on April 11, he unlawfully damaged one motor vehicle window, valued $220,000, property of Gregory Nedd and stole a compact disc (CD) tape deck, worth $160,000, belonging to the same man.

Police Corporal Munilall Seetaram, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant was exercising in the park when he saw Holligan in his car.

But, as he proceeded towards it, the defendant escaped in another car, which number Nedd recorded and reported to the Police who arrested Holligan.

On an application by Defence Counsel Vic Puran, he was put on $110,000 bail until May 6.
