ACTING Chief Justice, Mr. Ian Chang, S.C, who is to hear the Ramalho petition on Clico has adjourned the hearing to April 24.

Director of Clico Life and General Insurance Company (S.A.) Limited, Mr. Winston Ramalho, in his affidavit in support of Notice of Motion which he bought is seeking among other things:-

(1) An Order under Section 70 of the Insurance Act that the order of Judicial Management date 25th day of February, 2009 appointing the Commissioner of Insurance Judicial Manager of Clico Life and General Insurance Co. (S.A) Ltd. Be cancelled on the ground that it is undesirable that the Order should remain in force, alternatively.

(2) An Order varying the Order of Court dated the 25th February, 2009, by the deletion of that part or portion of the aforesaid order which reads: “AND it is further ordered that upon filing of the said Petition, the Respondent, Clico Life and General Insurance Company (S.A) Limited be immediately placed under Judicial Management until the Court otherwise orders. And the insertion of:

“And it is further ordered that upon filing of the said Petition, the Respondent, Clico Life and General Insurance Company, (S.A) Limited be placed under Judicial Management in so far as its long term insurance business is concerned until the Court otherwise orders.”
