Persaud, police said, was at the time riding his bicycle emerging from an access road into the main road at about 09:40h. when he was struck down by a motor car.

The man was taken to the Fort Wellington Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The driver of the vehicle is presently in police custody assisting with investigations.
