THE Ministry of Amerindians Affairs, in collaboration with the Regional Administration in Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), will be conducting elections for captains and councillors in the nine Amerindian communities from next week.

A release said the first election will be held on April 7 and 8 at Mashabo.

The voting at Capoey takes place April 9 and at Mainstay/Whyaka on April 14.

April 16 is the date for St Deny’s/Tapakuma and April 21 for St. Monica/Karawab.

The Kabakaburi vote is scheduled for April 22, also in upper Pomeroon and at Wakapoa, in lower Pomeroon, on April 29.

The last balloting, at Akawini, is on April 29, too.
