POLICE have charged three men with the theft of a motor car that was stolen from outside the Coney Island on Thomas Lands and found stripped in Joseph Pollydore Street, Lodge, also in Georgetown.
The trio, Deon Charles, 40, of Lot 19, Rondell Melville, 30, of Lot 30 and Sylvester Gonsalves, 18, of Lot 15, all on Joseph Pollydore Street, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle yesterday and pleaded not guilty to two counts of simple larceny.
One charge said, on March 11, they stole PHH 7028, valued $2.8M, property of Rameshwar Arjune and the other alleged that, the same day, they also stole a $12,500 shoulder bag containing things worth a total of $427,000, belonging to Fazeela Baksh.
Police Inspector Denise Griffith, prosecuting, said the men were seen removing the vehicle they took it to Melville’s workshop.
Mr. Vic Puran, for Melville, said Charles parked the car at his client’s place.
Mr. Adrian Thompson, representing Gonsalves, said the Police only saw the latter exiting the yard from where the car was retrieved and do not have enough evidence to prove his participation in the crime.
Each defendant was put on $300,000 bail and the cases were transferred to another Court for May 8.
