DPP’s driver charged with theft from vehicle

NICHOLAS Waddell, 19, a security guard employed with Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG), has been charged with simple larceny.

Before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle yesterday, it was alleged that, on March 9, he stole a tape deck valued $15,000, property of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Shalimar Ali-Hack.

After he pleaded not guilty, Police Inspector Denise Griffith, prosecuting, said the defendant is the virtual complainant’s driver, who usually parks her vehicle in the CIOG, Woolford Avenue, Thomas Lands, Georgetown compound.
The defendant was granted $25,000 bail and is to return to court on March 31.
