A BARBADIAN national who came to Guyana to get married recently succumbed to injuries inflicted on him by armed bandits during a robbery last month in Sophia, Georgetown.
Forty-two-year-old Tyrone Mc Donald Best, on Monday last, died from stab wounds to the abdomen he received during the attack in Section ‘D’ Sophia.
Reports are that the man, who was staying at the home of his intended, a Sophia resident, was on his way to a shop in the area to purchase cigarettes when he was confronted by two armed men.
The foreigner was relieved of $9,000 after being stabbed and left on the road, while the two men made good their escape, reports said.
He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was admitted and discharged the next day.
According to reports the man was later returned to the hospital and re-admitted on December 30 but died last Saturday, January 3.
Meanwhile, Police in a press statement yesterday said they were not alerted to the incident until Monday, January 5 and are conducting investigations.
